Why do I log in with Facebook to connect Instagram? Is it safe?

Instagram professional accounts are linked to a Facebook Page, so Meta asks you to log in with Facebook to confirm the account is yours. That's expected, and it doesn't add Facebook as a campaign channel.

It's safe. You log in on Meta's own screen, so we never see your password.

What the connection is for

  • Confirming the Instagram account is yours

  • Showing your profile, followers and basic stats to brands when you apply

  • Matching your campaign posts to your tasks

  • Partnership ads, when a campaign uses them

What we don't do

  • See or change your password

  • Post, like or comment on your behalf

  • Read your private messages

  • Run your ad accounts or change your business settings

Meta asks for its permissions as one package. If you're given the option, keep them all switched on, or the connection won't work.

Prefer not to connect Instagram? You can join with TikTok instead. You'll need Instagram connected to apply to Instagram campaigns.
